LEVI’S “BIG E” HISTORY
The Levi’s brand “Big E” series refers to Levi’s jeans & jackets made prior to 1971. At the time, Levi’s stitched their name into the pocket tab in all capitals letters, giving jeans & jackets of this era their signature title. After 1971, Levi’s changed their tab letters to read “Levi’s” instead of “LEVI’S”, making these limited Big E’s a collector’s item.

Vintage 501’s Typical Fit:
- Sits at true waist (high rise) w/ Button Fly
- Straight fit through thigh & leg opening
- 501s are the perfect go-to jean & can be worn snug for a peaches shaped booty OR loose & boyfriend style. Don’t forget you can always belt them!
How to Size Vintage Levi's:
- Vintage Levi’s were typically purchased 2 sizes bigger than needed to allow for shrinkage in the shrink to fit denim. It is very common for the tag size to be an inch, two inches or even three inches smaller than the listed tag size. Please ignore all tags and review the listed measurements to find the best fit.
Tips to find your best measurements:
- Waist - Measure where you want your pants to sit. This one is very important, as it will be the starting point for selecting vintage denim. For high-rise measure the smallest part of your waist.
- Hip - Measured at widest part, typically near your hip bones and around your booty.
- Rise - Measured from crotch seam to top of the waistband.
- Low Rise - 6.5-8”
- Mid Rise - 8.5-9.5”
- High Rise - 10-12”
- Inseam - Depends on where you would like your jeans to hit at the bottom leg; crop, ankle, top of shoe or floor. Measured from the crotch, along the inner seam down to the bottom of the jeans.
