Very good vintage condition. These denim pants had been taken in (cinch sewn) at the rear. I took out the stitching where it had been cinched in so there is a double line of stitch marks that add character, a couple small frayed holes.
HISTORY:
Denim pants were commonly worn in motocross during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, before being replaced by specialized nylon and leather gear in the late 1970s and 1980s.
Specialized gear brands began emerging in the 1970s, but many riders still used denim, sometimes with added padding, as a cheaper alternative to full leather suits. For example, a rider in 1974 used padded denim for a lighter, cooler option, but switched back to leather due to "strawberry" abrasions when falling.
