MORE INFO:

The United States Military Sailors’ Classic and famous white trousers were originally made of heavy cotton twill, which was durable and easy to clean. The color white was chosen because it was believed to reflect the sun's heat and keep sailors cooler in hot climates.

The tradition of wearing white trousers was established in the early 19th century, during the Napoleonic Wars, when the British navy adopted a new uniform that included white trousers for officers and sailors. The white trousers were worn as part of a full dress uniform and were reserved for special occasions and ceremonies.

Over time, the white trousers became a symbol of the navy and the seafaring lifestyle. The trousers were worn not just by sailors, but also by yachtsmen and other sailors who wanted to emulate the navy's style. The white trousers also became associated with leisure activities, such as sailing and beach vacations.

Today, white trousers are still worn by sailors and are a popular choice for summer and resort wear. They have become a classic and timeless style that represents both the history of the navy and the relaxed lifestyle of the sea.
